Scorned of Vyrose
Beneath the surface of Vyrose lies an unknown darkness. Every Race of Vyrose speaks their version of the same myth, an under void, a mirror world of the great abyss known as Theddar. Infecting the roots of the great Life Tree, this unseen force removed some piece of the world. An entire Race was undone. No word, memory, or document remains. From the buried entrails of the lost, a new Race wormed its way to life.
Behold the Sunder ascension from the abyss.
The scorned appear to be in a constant state of decay. Newborn Sunder may look to be flourishingly healthy. However, some older Sunder are mistaken for undead due to the severe state of decay. Gray tinted flesh barely hides multiple open sores. Scars often line their bodies as if to map out battles long since over. If uncared for, these scorned grow to become more skeletal than flesh. And to crown the visage of death, two large horns sprout from their forhead and twist in some chaotic pattern.
Thick incense and Semtey balms become needed to mask the scent of death. Sunder utilize large dark garments to cover their appearance. Body modifications, piercings, and tattoos become a Sunder artform to further distance themselves from society. Likewise spikes or studs, tall boots, and heavy painted armors warn of impending malevolence.
Rarely able to stand the company of their own, Sunder lack structure and hierarchy. Instead, they wander until they canst attach themselves like parasites to existing civilizations. A tendency to cause terror in a populous lands them easy work as body guards for Guilds. Coupled with a renown for lack of fear on the battlefield, Sunder are prized warriors or mercenaries for hire amongst every nation. Unfortunately they hath also become a new favorite victim for Black Market slave pit fighting.
Surprisingly, Sunder are also known to be deeply reflective intellects. Perhaps the true strength of the Sunder is what they lack. The absence of hope, greed, necessity, and in some cases self preservation- creates a desirable candidate for a variety of both honest and illicit work. Thus Sunder are sought for both inquisitor and executioner roles in judiciary Courts. Afterall, how dost thou buy off the one who wants nothing?
Some strange allure illuminates these beings of misfortune. We often know their names before they are spoken. Some memory of past suns and friendship claws its way into our minds. Once stripped from our loving embrace, now the Sundered Ones hath returned.
